I have always been fascinated with the process by which babies learn how to speak.
We are well familiar with the precious little ones having trouble pronouncing a word here or there when they start talking, and how many nicknames are created that way :-). In no time, words that were mispronounced and hard to say flow freely from their lips to a point where we cannot stop toddlers and children from speaking! (I was one of those!!). Interestingly, some of us never lose that childlike behavior and show no filter when it comes to just 'speaking our minds'.
Our topic for today is on 'our conversion'. I was just listening to a presentation on guarding our lips and our tongues. The Bible speaks (get it! The Bible speaks!!!) a lot about how we are supposed to guard our words. There are quite a few scriptural references that I would like to highlight for you to ponder upon:
There are many hungry for a word of love and encouragement from someone; from anyone! As we daily die to self, let's purpose in our hearts to crucify the tongue and dedicate our hearts to The LORD (for out of it are the issues of life {Proverbs 4:23}). Guard your speech today and you will guard your life.
Encourage someone today!

--He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.(Prov 13:3)
--Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.(Psalm 141:3)
--Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.(Psalm 34:13)
--Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. (Prov 18:21)Death and life are in the power of the tongue? That is both powerful and scary, but we know that it is truth. The old adage says 'sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me' is simply untrue. We may casually spew out words without any thought about the repercussions, we may purposefully hurt and torture others with our callous remarks and sometimes we may unintentionally joke about others all in the sake of 'fun', but these things ought not to be done. May The LORD have mercy on us all! No one likes to be on the receiving end of verbal abuse and painful words, so we should commit our tongues and our hearts to The LORD who will give us kind and compassionate words to speak and to share.
