Showers of Blessing: 5. Reunion!

After many weeks at home with our new baby, we returned to church this past Sabbath. Little Light Studios was going to be at the Poughkeepsie SDA Church for the whole day, and were elated to be able to support the ministry and to bring our little one to meet the church family for the first time.


It was better than expected!


We were showered with love and hugs even before we got into the House of God. We were also surprised to see friends from other local churches, who also came to watch the presentations by the ministry - so with one visit, we got to see our three congregational families! How awesome is that!


Although we weren't able to make it for the morning program, two of our dear church mothers dropped off lunch for us at home, and it was beyond delicious! There was also a lovely potted plant, a card and some awesome vegan home-baked desserts in the gift basket. Little did they know, we would be surprising them by showing up at church with our son for the afternoon and evening programs :-)

After all the baby introductions and reuniting, it was time to educated! Showers of Blessings: 4. Giving

"Babies grow up so quickly." I have heard this mentioned often, I have seen it with many of my family members and friends, and now I am experiencing it. As much as baby has been blessed with many items he needs, there are equipment and clothes he will inevitably outgrow.

A few month ago, my husband (indirectly) introduced me to a "Free" donation group on Facebook. This county-wide group allows anyone to post items they have to give away, free for the taking! After joining the group, I have already seen folks post baby clothes, televisions, yard equipment, furniture and electronics (some working, some not) for free. Besides this, there are charitable organizations around my neighborhood that would be happy to accept gently used items so there is no lack of need in my community.  I already have a few things I will be donating as they will not be in use for much longer, so I am eager to pass the blessings forward.

Any aid you can get when having a baby is a blessing; but instead of hoarding baby items after their prime (or even your own items/clothes), why not donate them to others who are less fortunate? It is more blessed to give than to receive after all. Find your local charitable organizations and consider giving back to the community today.

Showers of Blessings: 3. Abundance of Love From Church

My husband and I are an adventurous couple. We love traveling, seeing God's handiwork and enjoy a good meal wherever our travels take us! In that same realm, we love visiting different churches; even while on vacation, and have made some of our best friends that way.


With the news of us expecting, we were approached by three of our beloved church congregations. We were rendered speechless by the baby showers that were organized for us in the month of January. We literally ran out of space in our home because of all the gifts we received, but are ever so blessed to have all of our needs met for at least the first year of baby's life.


We are beyond blessed!!!

Showers of Blessings: 2. Anniversary

Praise the LORD for blessing me and my husband with this day; our anniversary!


So much has happened in the last year and we are humbled and happy to have life, to have each other and our family all around us.

Showers of Blessings Series: 1. Addition and Multiplication

April, besides being one of the rainiest months in the year, is "blessings" month! I will be sharing all of God's amazing blessings from the last months in a series I call Showers of Blessings. Today, I will start with the 'most precious' blessing of all:


In the Summer of 2016, my husband and I beheld The LORD's handiwork...on a tiny screen. Not only did The LORD bless us with the ministry of addition (when we got married), but He blessed us again with the ministry of multiplication! Yes, we were expecting and got to see our precious little baby on an ultrasound screen!


We were humbled and meditative about this gift. This would be a brand new ministry to us both and we felt our need of direction and instruction. Although there were anxieties, inadequacies and questions that flooded our minds, we were encouraged knowing if The LORD was blessing us with this precious gift, He would guide us on how to raise His child.

On an early morning in late February, labor pains indicated a child was about to be born. Our precious son was born healthy, sleepy and ready to bless our home and family with lots of love, and we have never been the same since.


It has truly been a blessing to be a parent these last few weeks. Despite the lack of sleep and having to learn on-the-spot at times, we are more blessed than ever before! Thank you Lord for this tremendous privilege!

April Showers....

We are still in the final days of March, but already, the 'April showers' are here! This week alone, it seems like it has rained every day, but once these showers pass, the sun comes out to warm the day. Alongside this, showers of blessings have also come my way:


- There are showers of God's mercies and love
- Showers of new additions to our family!
- Showers of gifts from loved ones
- Showers of surprises
- And the list goes on...


I can't wait for the month of April to be here. I will be going in detail with all the many showers of blessings that The LORD has poured out on my family in the last few months. Stay tuned --->
