Independent Dependence

The land of my birth celebrates her birthday today.
Saint Lucia is a young 36 years old
Happy Birthday Ste. Lucie!

Independence does not come easy for many nations. There are usually wars fought, lives lost and laws re-written when nations decide they want to be self-governed. Mankind has always love being independent. From infancy/childhood, we believe we can do things on our own, but we quickly learn that that is not the case.

By design, we are dependent on others. Being independent is good in many instances, but even the most independent person (or country) depends on another sometimes. We all have our strengths and weaknesses, and when we connect with others, we gain support from those who can compliment where we are deficient. Whether we believe in HIM or not, we especially depend on God for our very existence. No one can 'command' himself to breathe or his heart to beat without The LORD GOD allowing it. We are a dependent race.

It's a hard pill to swallow. We don't like hearing we aren't truly independent. Yes there are many aspects of our lives where we must function as a party of one, but we need each other to bolster each other in our daily walks. There is indeed strength in numbers. Learn and embrace being an independent dependent today.
