Belief # 13: The Remant and It's Mission

There are 28 Fundamental beliefs in The Seventh-day Adventist faith.

Because there are at least 28 days in each calendar month, I got the (divine?) idea to study a belief each day for a month; and after the 28 days are accomplished, to go over all of them in Day 30 or 31 (according to the month), and then start all over in the next month.
The only similarity in the following month's study would be the starting time. This time around, there wouldn't be a time limit to how long or short the study for each belief would be; so weeks could be dedicated to one or more of the beliefs, and thus, there wouldn't be an end date designated.

I am currently in the month where I am doing the in-depth study and came to #13 in the app I have been using. The app only gives the belief and the verses, and it has been my foundation for last month in my daily studies, but it's time to go deeper. Belief # 13 only had a few scriptural verses to support it's stance (unlike the majority of the other beliefs before it), and I really thought that was it would be a short study and not very expansive. In any case, I decided to get more spiritual and historical aids to help in my study.

I wasn't prepared for what happened next...

# 13. The Remnant and It's Mission:

When I got baptized, I received a copy of the 'Seventh-day Adventists Believe: 27 Fundamental Beliefs' book that gives an in-depth study into each of the church's beliefs (* - A new fundamental belief was added after the edition of the book I have, "Growing in Christ", so now there are 28). Although I have looked through and read portions of the book throughout my years, I got to use the book quite a bit for this particular doctrine.
I found out this belief is ALL encompassing and is a A LOT deeper than I initially thought.
This doctrine doesn't just start with a definition of 'The Remnant', but the great battle between good and evil. It goes on to explain the history of the Christian church, and how it apostatized, the reformation, Pagan and Papal Rome, the rise of false doctrines in the church, the post-reformation church, and theeeeennnn, got into the remnant, the mission involving the three angels of Revelation 14: the everlasting gospel to all the world, Babylon's fall and the battle over worship. Whew! I never realized that ALL of these fell under this belief.

Using Encyclopedias, books by historian Edward Gibbon, ancient history websites, and the Bible (of course), I can definitely say, my eyes have been opened. I am humbled and ashamed to ONLY be learning more about the three angels messages in-depth like this so late in the game, but praising The LORD it's better late than never.

Even if this study took almost two weeks, my hungry is not satiated as yet. I still want to re-study this belief (since it covers SOOO much and spans so many millennia!). I pray we may all take the beliefs of our faith and study them out in depth, so we may be able to give an answer to every man that asks us of our beliefs.

Keep studying!
