The Coming Storm (Part 2)

In my previous blog, I spoke about the coming storm (we were expecting our first major snow storm of the year in the Northeast). It was quite a doozy, and got more than 8 inches of snow in the Upstate NY. Many schools and businesses were closed in many of the Northeastern states and others had delayed openings due to the weather.

We do well to prepare for these physical storms; the supermarkets and stores must get a lot of revenue when a storm warning goes out, because many of us stockpile on groceries and goods before they hit. But what about the Spiritual storm that is coming?

The Word of God speaks about this upcoming spiritual storm, in fact, it is already upon us. In the 'end-time' chapters of the gospels (Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21) The LORD Jesus Christ warns about what will come upon the world in the last days before His Second Coming. Let's look at the account in the book of Matthew:

  1. A proliferation of false Christs and false prophets (Matt 24: 4-5; 11, 24)
  2. There will be wars and rumors of wars (Matt 24:6)
  3. Earthquakes, pestilences and famines will take place in various places (Matt 24:7)
  4. Persecution of those who believe and follow Christ (Matt 24:9-10)
  5. There will be less love in the world because sin will be so prevalent (Matt 24:12)
  6. Do not believe stories that say Christ has appeared in a particular place (Matt 24:46-27)
  7. There is also be great tribulation on the earth, and after it, The LORD will return to earth to gather His children unto Himself (Matt 24:21, 29-30)
  8. No one knows exactly when The LORD will come again, but by the signs of the times, you can know it is near (Matt 24:32-42)
  9. Be watchful, be ready for The LORD's second coming and don't think He is delaying His coming (Matt 24:42-51)
These are just some of the points mention in Matthew 24. Some may argue that we have always had these natural and societal issues since the beginning of time, but the scripture is clear these will be growing in severity as we come closer and closer to the end of time. It doesn't take any erudite to observe we have had more wars, more famines, more natural disasters, a greater decline of morality, increase in epidemic diseases and weather phenomena in this last century alone. Despite it all, there is nothing to fear, but we must get ready, stay ready and help others get ready for The LORD's second coming.

He is on His way, are you ready to meet Him?

The Coming Storm

This winter has been an interesting one. Some predicted that this would be a very bad winter, but so far, we haven't had many snow and storm days, but we are expecting one tomorrow, Thursday February 9th. How does one prepare for a storm? This is what my family does and what I know other friends/family members do:

1. Stockpile on food.
2. Test and purchase batteries for portable devices.
3. Charge cellular and electronic devices.
4. Check home/windows for broken portions and fortify weak spots.
5. Check up on family members to also get and stay ready.

There may be more points to mention here, but these are the main ones. Notice how many of us prepare for storms (snow storms, hurricanes and the like). These are some great points right? But how do we prepare for a spiritual storm? Do you even know there is spiritual storm coming? In my next blog, I will talk a bout this particular storm. Until then, you who live In the Northeastern states, prepare and brace for this snow storm, and remember The Lord is with us and will never leave nor forsake us.

The Morning After (The Storm)

What a merciful and loving God we serve!

We in the Northeastern states were warned about this very terrifying blizzard that would start on Monday (1/26/2015) and end on Tuesday (1/27/2015). We were also told that this storm would possibly dump over 2 feet (you read right! 2 feet!!!) of snow and would affect parts of Pennsylvania all the way up to Maine, but so far, most of us have been spared from the storm.

Weather prediction is just that; a prediction. With all the advancements in technology and radar equipment, sometimes the weather professionals may still be incorrect in their assessments of a weather situation. But more than that, I believe GOD steps in and intervenes many, many, MANY times. I thank God for toning 'Juno' down and allowing us to retain power and heat throughout the storm. I also thank HIM that our snow totals were below the predicted numbers, and that we were safe. While others may jeer and chide at the weather folks and governmental officials (who ordered mandatory shut-downs of all mass transit lines), I believe time and time again, The LORD steps in and calmed the storm! Amen!!!

Just wanted to praise HIM and look at a few places where His Merciful Nature is mentioned in Scripture:

  • Exodus 34:6   And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
  • Deuteronomy 4:31   (For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.
  • Psalms 37:26   He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.
  • Psalms 103:8   The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
  • Psalms 116:5   Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.
  • Psalms 117:2   For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD.

Praise ye The LORD! Thank You for protection and bringing us safely through the storm!
