The Hurricane Season is here

It used to be that the hurricane season came and left, and North America paid very little attention to it. Things have changed in recent years. There have been a surge of hurricanes that actually make landfall on U.S. coastlines and that number is increasing.

Already, we have had an incredibly deadly storm named Hurricane Harvey (that devastated parts of Texas and flooded portions of Louisiana), and a Hurricane Irma is slowly making its way over to the U.S. In the wake of these storms, we are encouraged to have emergency plans BEFORE disaster strikes, listen to weather advisories and be and stay prepared. Please contact your local emergency resources for help before the storms are here.

Also, to help with the recent disaster in Houston and other Texas cities, visit the following charitable organizations below:

Let us also pray for the families affected by this storm, and for the country at large.

Hurricane Matthew

This is a recap of the recent Hurricane that struck the Caribbean and the U.S:

I remember when my family members in the Caribbean started to talk about a Tropical Storm named Matthew. My uncles and cousins spoke about how it dumped lots of rain upon the land, and how it affected nearby islands a lot more than 'home'. By the time the storm left the Lesser Antilles, it had grown into a Hurricane.
Taken from Accuweather.com

By the time it landed on the western parts of Haiti, it was a Category 4 beast and destroyed many areas in that precious country. Even Guantanamo Bay in Cuba was forced to evacuate as it made its way to that island as well. As the days progressed, Hurricane Matthew had its 'eye' towards Florida it seemed, but the Carolinas got the brunt of it instead. By the end of King Matthew's reign, it has over 2000 deaths (from the Caribbean, especially Haiti and the U.S.) and BILLIONS of dollars in destruction. To add insult (sadness and gloom) to injury, even after the Hurricane had passed, the flood waters in the Carolinas continued to swell and cause continued problems in the U.S.

*Exhale* This was just the latest in the string of hurricanes we may face this year. The Atlantic hurricane season is far from over, and this won't even include the cyclones that are battering the countries of the Eastern/Pacific region. There is a lot going on in terms of natural disasters, and storms will continue to get stronger and more destructive as the Bible forewarned. In these times, we should be extra compassionate and help our neighbors, our friends, and family members in other states/countries that may need our help, because we are all a part of God's family. Here is just a short/quick list of relief agencies:

The Fall Is Upon Us

The end of September always reminds me of a couple of things:

1) My birthday has passed :-( {sad, yes, I know}

2) Fall is officially here!

Spring and Fall are the two most colorful seasons in the temperate climate! Besides the flowers budding and the leaves flowering, Fall (or Autumn) is also the season where the leaves start changing and the landscape becomes bathed in shades of orange, brown, red and deep purples.

This week, however, we are being graced with another visitor: a hurricane?! Yes Hurricane Joaquin has been gaining momentum in the last few days. This (once called a tropical storm) is now a Category 2 storm as I type. It is due to hit The Bahamas later this evening and may make landfall on the Northern sea coasts of the U.S. by tomorrow. All eyes are on her - it's quite interesting to have this type of weather in the Fall, but this seems like it will be the norm.

It's been a very interesting few days. The BIG Papal visit has come and gone (will be writing a blog on that one soon), major Jewish HolyDays have just passed, the beauuutiful 'blood'/lunar eclipse has just passed as well, and this year seems more bend on being one for the record books than last year.

It is quite an interesting time we are living in, nothing surprising however, The Word all foretold it.

Let's continue studying and searching The Holy Scriptures daily. It's the best library of Books we should be 'Falling' for. (I couldn't help it ;-) )
