2016: Year In Review

It's that time...

The old year is bowing out of the picture, and the new year is here.

For those of us who are Sabbath-keepers, and believe that the day ends with sunset and starts with sunset, it has already been the new year hours ago. There is much to rejoice about, but also a lot to reflect upon.

This is "2016 In Review"

  • January 1st ~ My family watches the ball drop in Times Square on TV.
  • Jan 1st ~ Last day of GYC in Kentucky. This was my first GYC missed since 2009, but was still thoroughly blessed by the recorded messages.
  • Jan 22nd ~ Winter Storm Jonas hits the Northeast (first major snow storm of the new year in my area).
  • Jan 2016 ~ "Ten Days of Prayer" initiative for this year is on the theme is 'Abide in Christ.
  • Jan - April ~ Wedding planning continues!
  • March - April ~ The Last Call Project on "The Foundation Series: Exploring The Foundations of Our Faith" series on the fundamental beliefs of the Adventist faith.
  • April 2016 ~ Wedding Month! <3 Praaaaiiiseee The LORD! It was a beautiful, joyous, tearful, amazing day and month!!!
  • April - June ~ Honeymoon, Road trips, mini vacations and staycations with the hubby to a few East Coast States!
  • Summer 2016 ~ Our first visit to Block Island (if you haven't been, you are missing out on one of the most beauuuutiful, untouched coastal islands of the U.S!
  • Oct 2016 ~ The 31st marks the 499th year of Martin Luther's protesting of the Catholic church's stances on indulgences. 2017 will be the BIG YEAR!
  • Oct 2016 ~ Hurricane Matthew: The behemoth that raged through The Caribbean (especially Haiti and parts of Cuba, and some parts of the U.S.) went through all the major storm categories and caused 100's of deaths regionally and BILLIONS of dollars in damages.
  • Oct 22, 2016 ~ The 172nd year of the GREAT Disappointment of 1844; a very big (and prophetic) year in Seventh-day Adventist History.
  • Nov 7, 2016 ~ Presidential Election in the U.S.A; The country is severely divided along the lines of the two major candidates, and STILL divided even after the results came in.
  • Dec 2016 ~ (Not into Hollywood and the celebrity news AT ALL) but December sees a lot more deaths of celebrities (it seems) than all year!
The year has been quite and interesting one. We are one year older and one year closer to The Second Coming of The LORD. May you make 2017 count; and seize each day as the days goes by...

Saying Goodbye to 2016 and Hello to 2017

Friends, family, it's December!
And it's already mid-December! That means Christmas is around the corner, and so is the new year! This year, like all years, have been filled with blessings, high points and low ones.

This year was a big year for me: got married to my very best friend (and I can truly testify, marriage is a true, TRUE blessing when you allow The LORD to pick for you!), moved upstate to COLD country, forged new relationships with couples and families in our new congregations and the list goes on.

Looking back on the last 12 months can be depressing and daunting to many, but I can assure you, if you are still alive and breathing, that is still something to be thankful about!

The year is not done yet! There are still a few more days to go. Join me in grabbing the final days of 2016 by the horns and making them count! Let's get ready to welcome 2017 with open arms and eager spirits!

Year In Review: 2015

What a year it has been....

January started with GYC-Phoenix and a charge to lead someone to Christ and to give sacrificially to the cause of Christ. Also, every January there is a '10 Days of Prayer' event that happens globally, so this year was no exception. I didn't know what the year held, but was knew who held the year and I was very hopeful it would be a good one!

February was a grrrreat month! Not only was it the month of my birth-island's independence (Saint Lucia!), I got engaged to the most wonderful, amazing, Christ-like man on earth {My love, Francisco} and our relationship went to the next level. We thank God for how He led us together and keeps us together even to this day! Let the wedding plans begin...

March was our anniversary month and the month we attended our first wedding together! Two of our dear friends tied the knot at the end of the month and we got some great ideas for our wedding ;-).
Francisco also got to share his testimony at an AY program in Brooklyn that was very well received.

April brought the Spring and my first invitation to speak at a "Preachfest". The topic for the year is "Unlimited Faith, Courage and Possibilities" and I shared a message on three Bible characters who exhibited unlimited faith, unlimited courage and unlimited possibilities.

July was the month of the General Conference session and the world-wide meeting of the Adventist family. Prior to that, the GC body encouraged the world to pray for the 100 days leading to this big meeting and I greatly enjoy when the world is called upon to unite in prayer!

July and August were also the months of the two mission trips I helped with; Pokot Mission in Kenya and GYC INTERmission in Manitoulin Island, Canada. We thank The LORD for how He blessed both trips and the lives that were changed for His Kingdom!

September is my birth month and had a wonderful birthday with the fiance and family. My home church also held its 100 Years Anniversary Weekend that month. To God be the Glory!!!

November is the month of Thanksgiving and there were quite a few things I was very thankful for (too numerous and too wonderful to name them all!!!). May we not just celebrate thanksgiving one day in one month but everyday!!

And December, the last month of the year brought about my second invitation to speak at the "Unlimited Faith, Courage, Possibilities" youth preachfest at Mt. Vernon SDA Church. It was also the month for more holidays, more family time, more togetherness, more planning for the Pokot Mission transition for the new year (we will be transitioning to "VUNA international") and a looking-forward to 2016.

There were also some engagements this year (yippee!!), some births, re-births (baptisms) and deaths in my church/friends' families this year. We got to celebrate with those who were added to the human family and mourn with those who lost loved ones {including Sis. Nelson, Bro. Raymond, Bro. Richard, Sis Williamson and Elder Hodgson}.

Yes the year was a very eventful one and I haven't even mentioned half of the things that took place, but praise God for life and more growth and reliance on HIM in 2016.

Let's move forward -->
